More than 50 scholars will join our community as Newberry Fellows during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Supported by funding from the Newberry and other partners, the fellows will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Newberry’s world-class collection while pursuing research on a diverse range of topics in the humanities.

The new interdisciplinary cohort includes professors, independent researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars from a variety of disciplines and institutions.

The researchers will explore an array of topics, including the role of capitalism in the French revolution, Black and Indigenous engagements with Shakespeare in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Italian cultural production after the sack of Rome, and the relationship between Indigenous sovereignty and racial slavery in American History.
