This workshop will serve as an introduction to the growing field of fragmentology, which explores the stories of medieval manuscript pages and fragments that have been separated from their original context.

This workshop will serve as an introduction to the growing field of fragmentology, which explores the stories of medieval manuscript pages and fragments that have been separated from their original context. Participants will consider the presence and function of medieval fragments in the bindings, endleaves, and tabs of early modern books. In so doing, they will develop a better understanding of the ways in which material culture, codicology, information culture, and the history of libraries can enrich any field of medieval or early modern studies.
