“How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is
To have a thankless child!”
In this theatrical reading, professional actors from the Shakespeare Project of Chicago will bring the great tragedy King Lear to life, in a performance directed by Michelle Shupe.
Founded in 1993, the Shakespeare Project of Chicago has performed at the Newberry since 2003. This reading will be preceded by an informative talk by a dramaturg about ten minutes before the performance and followed by a question-and-answer talkback with the director and cast.
