My Experience
I've had the opportunity to spend my Fall 2023 semester interning at The Newberry Library's Center for Renaissance Studies. During my internship, I was able to work closely with staff from CRS in hosting reading groups, workshops and seminars. One of my favorite workshops that I had the privilege of assisting for was the Black Feminist Premodern Book History workshop that discussed topics such as material philology, codicology, and censorship. Learning from all the great scholars that presented and discussed their work has left me with a rich intellectual roadmap forward as I have decided that I plan on continuing my research towards a PHD in literature.
I entered this internship at CRS not having any initial interest within the field of Renaissance Studies but, I’ve now signed up for a course in Renaissance literature next semester! I hope to merge these two fields together with my interest of Latino and Latin American studies and seeing what possibilities might grow from it. The resources that the Newberry Library is able to provide ranging from their deep scholarly archives to their dedication assisting scholars at every level of their career was rewarding to be a part of.
Thanks to everyone at The Newberry Library and CRS for being a welcoming and supportive group of people!
